Chinese New Year

So what happens when the New Year rolls around in China? All hell breaks loose. It was seriously like nothing I have ever witnessed before. I have never been in a war zone but I am guessing that this is what it was like?!  For a solid six hours the noise didn't relent. At the stroke of midnight, the sky was on fire. I was in my apartment and could not count all the different areas of the city that were lighting off fireworks.

Sun shines bright

This is what I am learning...
----------------------------------------------------------
This is my teacher...
-------------------------------------------------
This is Sun Yu, or Cat-Cat as she likes to be called in English. She is pretty much the cutest and nicest person I have met while I have been in Linping. Quite frankly she reminds me of Julie Andrews from the Sound of Music. She is always happy, always smiling and when she isn't explaining herself properly or if she is struggling for the English word, she scrunches up her nose.
She is an outdoor type of girl. She likes to climb mountains, camp and backpack. She loves North Face and reading. Whenever I see her, she always has a stack of new books. She reads Chinese Nat Geo and dreams of going to the places in the pictures.

Cat-Cat, you rule.

Success! D-72

So I figured that I would try an experiment today. I took a roll of Lucky SHD-100, loaded it into the Leica and headed out to catch the last light of the day. It was cold. My hands hurt but I had a mission in mind. I blasted off the roll, shooting nothing of real interest. I just wanted a properly exposed roll to test on.

I came home and mixed up a batch of D-72 and proceeded to soup my film for 6.5 minutes in D72 @ 1:2

But Vance! That is paper developer! Surely you mean d-76?!?!

Nope. D-72. Just finished washing the negs and so far they look good. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to put them under a loupe and check the grain, but so far they look decent. Not bad for guessing on the development time and dillution...

Something New
