Vietnam Beach Party

----------------------------------------
I am in Hoi An. I am back with the Irish consortum from Luang Prabang. I am hung over after a night of way too many drinks.

That is my life right now. City to city, village to village, by bus, by moto, by plane. I've made my way across many countries. I've eaten exotic foods, talked to exotic people and done things that would make my mother cringe. I've been away from Canada for well past a year. I've sacraficed lots but gained back so much more. It can be brutally lonely even though I am surrounded by others. Would I change it? No.

Still In Laos

Joanna, who despite this picture, is always quite happy.

John, also always happy, contemplates the falls.

Pii Mai, the Laos New Year, was this week. Here, an employee of Spicy Laos Hostel, makes flower necklaces for the group to wear in the parade.

The drunken sailor

This is Souk, he goes to art school in Luang Prabang, speaks very good English, is very nice and plays Kator like machine. If you have never seen this sport, think of volleyball where you use your feet. This shot is Souk spiking the ball, and yes, he DID land on his feet. He is like a cat.
-----------------------------------------------
This is Souk serving the ball. Like I said, a machine!
------------------------------------------------------------
Local kids, curious to see a falang. Just outside a small village near Luang Prabang.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
More local kids, these ones were waving frantically and saying hello in Laos, so I decided to stop and say hi.
--------------------------------------------------------------
On the way to the waterfalls, Tim and I had to grab a boat to cross the river. This was the rope man. I am fairly certain that he was drunk out of his mind as on the way back, he passed out for a while. luckily, the motor man seemed in much better shape.
---------------------------------------------------------
Sitting here at the Spicy Laos hostel, updating when I should be out doing something productive, but this place is so nice and relaxing that I just don't want to leave. Luckily, someone cancelled and I am able to stay until the 13th. After that I may go to Savannahket or I may go to Hanoi, haven't decided yet.... Ahh life is rough.

Bored No More

Today I am in Luang Prabang Laos. It is in the north. I took a hellish night bus here from Vientiane. Everything that Danielle and Brian said about the roads are true. On the way I was seat mates with Tim from Vermont. Great guy, we went out to some local villages outside of town and thanks to his language skills, we went swimming in the Mekong where we were soon joined by a local boy. Killer times. Toga party tonight.
